8 Months

Happy 8 months, Carter!

Time is flying by. It seems like we just had a newborn and now you're already 8 months old. A few more months and we  will be celebrating one year.

This month's monkey pictures aren't the best. Mama and Chap both have colds, and Daddy is extra tired since he's taken on extra night duty so I can sleep, which means I just took some quick shots. But, I'm sure there will be tons of other photos taken throughout the month, as we always seem to do.

You had a busy January. Mama's Great Aunt Judy, your Great Great Aunt Judy (or G2), flew out from Texas to visit for a long weekend. We took the train with G2, Gramie and Grampie, from Rancho Cucamonga to LA and then walked about 10,000 miles uphill to the Grand Central Food Hall in downtown. The food hall was okay, but not exactly what we thought it would be. G2 did feed you some of her pineapple slush while Mama was getting her lunch! We found a shorter way to walk back to  Union Station and stopped at Olvera Street for awhile.

On Sunday, we watched the Niners vs the SeaHawks in the Playoffs for a Super Bowl spot. The Niners had the lead the entire game until the last half of the 4th quarter, when they choked and ultimately lost. Daddy is still mad and doesn't want to watch the Super Bowl this year.

Monday, we picked up G2, Grampie and Gramie and drove to the Anza Borrego desert and went off roading in Daddy's new CRV to look at enormous metal sculptures. You stayed in the car the whole time and entertained everyone with your silly antics. You did great and didn't cry the entire day, despite being strapped into your car seat for long stretches of time.

You are getting stronger at standing with support and can even stand unassisted for a few seconds at a time. You also can take a few steps if we hold your arms or waist-the most you've taken is about 11, but usually you take 2 or 3 and then decide you want to do something else.

You LOVE wheels and will flip your Batman car or your lion walker over to study the wheels. You even love to look at the wheels on our cars in the garage. You also love your little toy cars, though you mostly like to throw them or watch us drive them around you.

We decided to take a last minute weekend vacation to Carpenteria/Santa Barbara at the beginning of January before winter break ended. You did great riding in the car and you loved staying in the hotel. The crib they brought us looked like a death trap, so you slept in the bed with us, which meant that Mama and Daddy didn't really sleep. You especially loved taking a shower instead of your usual bath!

We were going to go to the Zoo, but decided to just hang out at the beach instead. You were kind of unsure about the waves and didn't like getting your feet wet, so we found some swings to play on. You keep your little right foot sticking up the whole time! :)

We took a day trip to La Jolla this past month and you absolutely loved it. You loved looking at the ocean and hearing the waves crash on the shore; though you weren't a huge fan of having your toes dipped in the water. It was January though, and the water is still really cold, but hopefully you will enjoy the ocean water more this summer. We also spent time playing in the grass in a park on a cliff above the ocean and of course, you had a great time. I'm sure we will spend many more weekends doing the same in the future.
